The optimal rescue equipment

We have developed the most optimal rescue equipment for civilian rescue operations. When civilians enter the water to save lives, the most important thing is to stabilize the situation until professional help arrives. With LifeBoard, this becomes easier for the civilian rescuer.

Keep an eye on the safety when swimming in cold water!

Cold water swimming is a huge hit, and we completely understand why. It’s great for both body and mind, but it’s important to remember to take precautions -  before you enter the water and while you’re in it.

Before you enter the water:

  • Never bathe alone (otherwise no one can help you in case of an accident)
  • Do not swim if you are affected by alcohol, drugs, or sedative medication
  • Check swimming conditions and rescue equipment:
Avoid swimming in difficult water conditions and locate rescue equipment before entering the water
  • Watch out for ice/slippery areas near ladders or bridges to avoid slipping
  • Lower your body calmly into the water

In the water:

  • Breathe calmly
  • Stay close to the ladder/bridge/water's edge
  • Never swim under the ice
  • Look out for one another

Emergency responders implement PRO LifeBoard: "It saved her life"

One winter evening in 2023, an elderly woman fell into the water. A quick-thinking neighbor alerted the emergency center, and when Fire Chief Lars Guldmann and his colleagues arrived, the woman was in a very weakened state.

The firefighters acted quickly and brought the woman in and onto land using the PRO LifeBoard. "The crucial factor was speed, and having the right equipment. In this situation, [LifeBoard] definitely made a difference. It saved her life."

By implementing LifeBoard in their surface rescue concept, Lars and his colleagues were able to bring the woman in quickly, which helped save her life. Knowing that our PRO LifeBoard assists everyday heroes in saving lives is the reason we proudly go to work every day.

A big thank you to all our partners in the emergency services for the important work you do!

More than 400 kilos of beach waste collected

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, we held a beach clean at Vangsø Strand in Thisted in collaboration with the company Strandet. A lot of good people came and helped, and in two hours we collected over 400 kilos of waste, which we are very happy about.

As a company, we put plastic lifesaving equipment on the beaches, and while we are already working on a number of initiatives to reduce our overall CO2 emissions, we also feel a responsibility to reduce the total amount of plastic on all our beaches. Therefore, we have decided to collect a minimum of one kilogram of plastic per LifeBoard by 2024, and with approximately 300 new LifeBoards on the beaches this year, we have fortunately reached this goal.

Our collaboration with Strandet means that we can work hard to create the safest beaches in Denmark and do our part to reduce litter on the beaches.

Together we save lives!

Codan Fonden and LifeBoard have teamed up to improve water safety along Denmark's coasts 🌊

Through this partnership, we are doubling the number of LifeBoards on Danish beaches while also educating children and young people in swimming and water safety through our WaterSmart events.

Year-round safety - for all bathers!

Water safety is relevant all year round, regardless of the weather. Drowning accidents don't just happen in the warm water of summer, but also when the water hits zero.

We believe in a future with fewer drowning accidents

In LifeBoard, we have one overarching mission: No one should drown. That’s why we created LifeBoard and PRO LifeBoard. Drowning accidents can be prevented, but it requires the right rescue equipment, education, and political will to take action. We work on all these parameters to ensure that no one should drown.

Many municipalities have already set up LifeBoards

You can find LifeBoards in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Ice safety during winter activities

Water safety isn't just relevant in the summer. Ice covers lakes for much of the year, but it’s only during the very cold periods that the ice is truly safe. This means the risk of accidents on ice is something that should be taken very seriously. The Ice-Kit is an easy addition to LifeBoard, making rescues on ice safer.

We also equip professional rescuers

In collaboration with Roskilde Fire Service, we have further developed the original LifeBoard and created PRO LifeBoard. PRO LifeBoard is now part of the equipment of several fire and rescue services.
